Rave reviews

'... Krisztina de Châtel’s remarkably evenly dosed choreographic material fits almost perfectly with the cool set design by German artist VA Wölfl.' (Haarlems Dagblad)

'Thron’s qualities cannot be overlooked.' (NRC Handelsblad)

Thron builds on the minimalism of De Châtel’s previous work, including Lines (1979), combining this with a more individualised approach to the dancers. Thron is about pent-up strength, incredible devotion and an ever-more intensely controlled energy in a magical struggle with time.

The set design and costumes are by VA Wölfl, and composer Patricio Wang adapts the original music to modern standards. The music is minimalist in style with references to Chilean folk music. At the request of VA Wölfl, this music has been rescored with the use of electronics to make it more expressive.
